Alley Smith-Morrissey is the Assistant Coordinator of Veterans Services at the University of Southern Maine. She also serves in the Navy Reserve as (MA) Master-at-Arms and Funeral Honors team member. She is stationed at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. With over 12 years of military experience, she has served in the Marine Corps for 6 years and Maine Army National Guard for 2 years. Her military occupations have included, military police, investigator, and chaplain assistant / religious affairs non-commissioned officer. In the Navy, Alley is assigned to the Training Department. She loves to teach and mentor sailors.
Alley’s academic background is in Homeland Security and Biblical Counseling. She has studied at American Military University and Rutgers Bildner Center for the Study of Jewish Life. She has a Masters in Biblical Counseling with a focus on Crisis and Trauma from Light University. Alley is passionate about providing peer support and crisis support to veterans and First Responders such as police, EMS, and fire fighters.
Alley is a combat veteran member of Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. Alley is the Co-Chair of the Maine Military and Community Network in Portland and the Athletic Director of Maine Team Red, White, and Blue. Over the years, Alley has received local, state, and national recognition for her work in veterans’ advocacy. Alley enjoys watching her spouse play rugby, trail running, snowshoe races, kayaking, and hiking with her dog.
