Eliot-based Non-profit Pinetree Institute was providing education on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and community trauma in 2019 when we found that communities wanted to gather around a key issue: responding to the substance use disorder (SUD) crisis. To meet the needs of Seacoast Maine and New Hampshire, Pinetree developed a community coalition approach to this issue, convening providers on the front lines and seeking measurable outcomes and best practice metrics.
This presentation will focus on community coalition work at the intersection of trauma and SUD with the goal of becoming Recovery Ready, a term for a community with broad access to services that support people in recovery. From treatment and medication to recovery homes and vocational support, we will discuss how every community can improve services, address gaps, and set and meet goals.
